随着科学技术的进步和生产的发展，国民经济各部门要求机械工业不断提供先进技术装备和研究产品品种，这就促使机械工业的生产形势发生了显著的变化。原来以用夹具为主的传统生产技术准备工作的方式，就远远不能适应当前机械工业所面临的新形势。这就提出了多品种小批量生产的夹具设计和研究的课题。
