I Teaching objectives

By the end of the lesson, students are supposed to

Understand key words such as dropping, predator and hire, and master some phrases such as on the clock, chase away, and scare away.

Improve reading abilities through the strategy of Reading Circles, such as the ability of critical thinking.

Develop interest on reading, and think about questions from different angles.

II Teaching focus

Enable students to have a full understanding of how hawks were “hired〞 to chase pigeons out of Bryant Park in New York City.

Strengthen students’ ability of critical thinking by further discussing more details.
